This blog is going to be upsetting but it's not my intention. It's about awareness. The information on this subject is over-whelming and the photos choke me up, almost bringing me to tears... none of which I took.
The jist of it is about the fur trade but it's not about mink, fox and seal fur (as examples). This is about the dog, cat and rabbit fur trade. A market not very known since there are some pretty lax laws in Canada that can allow such fur be imported and sold here AND it does not have to specify what the fur is (from what I have read/absorbed so far). So, people can be walking around wearing these furs and not even know.
Thousands upon thousands and many times more that of cats, rabbits and dogs are bred in deplorable conditions for later slaughter to the fur trade. The fur is used on childrens' toys, in gloves, boots, ear muffs, coats and so on.
Fall of 2008 saw Walmart Canada pull slippers made in one of the countries from their shelves once they learned that they had been selling rabbit fur lined slippers. There was no information on the slippers saying it contained real fur. A rule that some are using now with products from these countries is that if it feels like real fur, chances are it is. So, while Walmart is a huge pain in the a$$ for me most times I visit, I give them praise for their no fur policy.
There's not much more I really want to say about this topic, it's too upsetting, and just makes me want to run off and hug Meadow.
Look at this photo below. Was it worth how many animals died for the production of these toys? I've seen these in flea markets and elsewhere, never once thinking they were made from real animals. It's rather messed up when you think about it... killing a cat or a dog to make a cat or dog toy!
The most graphic photo of the bunch pictured below. How one can do this? How people can look on and feel nothing?
The end result... I have no idea what I would do if I came across a shop like this.
Such items containing rabbit, cat or dog fur; but there is so much more out there.
A dog farm where they are bred, raised and slaughtered.
How could anyone walk by this crate and do nothing?
A not so uncommon sight it seems... delivering dogs for slaughter.
Another bunch waiting to be picked up.
Another photo where I can say I am ashamed of fellow mankind.
I am attaching a link that I would like you to go to and read. The page has very little in way of images but the read can bring about many in your own mind and perhaps get you to help me in helping these poor creatures.
Canada needs to act upon this and put a stop to it; by banning such products coming in, enforcing laws on product information. Hopefully this could bring a halt to such horrible occurrences.
